GEORGIA DYMOCK
I'm an artist living and working in London. After completing my degree in Anthropology (UCL), I studied an MFA in painting at the Slade School of Fine Art, where I graduated in 2023. My work has been exhibited and collected internationally, including in London, New York, Miami, Mexico City, and Basel and has been acquired by the Museum Inima de Paula, Brazil. I have been selected for New Contemporaries '24 and shortlisted for the Ingram Prize '24.

My practice borrows inspiration from a variety of art historical movements, most notably Surrealism, Pop-Art, Fragmented Cubism, and Neo Classicism. My experimentation with composition and use of materials often leads to the deconstruction of the body into simplified forms. Most often these bodies are gender-neutral; existing in their stripped-back nature, these forms feel ambiguous and may belong to any time or context.
These forms are simultaneously connected and disconnected. Often appearing as pairs, the figures are shown interacting with one another through ways of pinching, pulling and poking, despite their physical proximity, they appear indifferent to one another, looking out into the distance, their gaze matches the coolness of the material they are made from. These bodies aren’t made from flesh and bone, rather their cold exterior suggests stone, metal or plastic. Their objectness emphasises their existence as separate entities.I draw my imagery from multiple sources, including my imagination, digital sculpting, art history and the internet.
This imagery is brought together into the digital workspace. Once the canvas is evolving, I often reevaluate the rendering, going back and forth between digital and analogue, the two media informing one another in an ever-evolving exchange of inspiration. The result of this process is eventually concluded onto the canvas.
